Been some time since I updated the blog. The reason is that internet was to expensive in US, so I surfed on my palm pilot instead, and it was no good for the pages to the blog.
So here's what has happened lately, sorted on cities.
Los Angeles:
I had too much of a hangover to visit Ackermansion and the play All about Walken. Instead, I and Mr. Cthulhu went to the Ripley-museum to see a genuine Vampire Killer-set, some fetishes and voodoodolls and other nice stuff. Just a few blocks from my hostel, I found a small witch-shop with punkrock-zombies. I bought one, but it escaped on the bus station, so people ought to watch out. Then, we went to see the Witch's house which was a bit of disappointment, as some construction was going on, and all grass and stuff around it had been dug up.
After that we went to the Museum of Jurassic Technology, a really strange place which I still don't understand. Apart from advice on how evil rabbits are for pregnant women and how mice can be eaten on toast to cure ills, there were also exhibits on microsopic art (needed microscope to be seen), paintings on all russian dogs sent to space and some mystic science on music.
Best of all, was the helicopter trip that Mats fixed for me, actually a lesson on how to fly the helicopter, controlling altitude and stuff. Got a bit paranoid for a while, but it was really cool. Mr. Cthulhu was to small to fly, but he got to sit in the pilot seat pretending for a while which made him happy enough.
Las Vegas:
All cool shows seemed to be down for maintenance when Cthulhu & II got there. This included the famous Treasure Island show, the Lion Habitat and so on. I thought of gaming a bit when I found a machine called "Hex-remover". However, I didn't understand a thing on how it worked so I got away with no lost money. Mr. Cthulhu found a great little wheel-and-arrow thing called "What would a pirate do?" with some suggestions as "Maroon a scallywag" and "Shiver me timbers" which I bought for him. After that we went to see a topless vampire show called Bite where erotical vampires showed their best two assets - their fangs. Our stay in Las Vegas was finished off with a trip to Grand Canyon where I got a cold which kept me coughing for a week. My jacket was as popular in Las Vegas in Los Angeles, I counted around 20 congratulations on it per day and some free beers.
San Fransisco:
San Fransisco was a great place to stay, not only because it was a nice place, but also because I got free boarding. Bengt Svensson, friend of a friend, who also sometimes reports for Radio Tuff, lent me a sofa to sleep in and also gave me tips and drove me around the city. These are the coolest parts:
- Vampire Tour by Mina Harker: Mina Harker, mistress of Dracula, showed us around the city, explaining what influences the vampires had when the city was created and also which areas were currently haunted.
- Paxton Gate: A great taxidermy shop with stuffed mice in punk haircuts.
- Botanica Yoruba: Another little witch store. I bought some mummy oil and also some for de-hexing things. Thought they would work great together.
- Defenestration: Strange building where furnitures are attached to the walls, so it seems as they were thrown out from the windows.
- Musée Mécanique: Museum with antique arcade machines, all in working condition.
- Emperor Nortons Resting Place: Emperor Norton was the last Emperor of US (also the first) and the Protector of Mexico.
- Columbarium: Strange place where americans put their dead ancestors in urns that everyone can go and look at.
- Exploratorium: Technical museum with exhibits on sound, seeing, mind and more.
- Alcatraz: Don't need more explanation. Extra fun to see about the indian occupation of the island. Visitors are greated with the sign "Welcome to Indian land".
- Redwood Trees: Gigantic thing. When a lumberjack gets tired of the larch, he has something to work on.
Otherwise, my jacket wasn't as popular in San Fransisco. Only around 3-4 congratulations per day. Will write more on my visit to Fiji later on. Meanwhile, here and here are some longer reports in swedish.
